Who We Are
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States. Our members are building a movement for social change, establishing a democratic socialist presence in communities and politics across the country. We believe working people should run both the economy and society democratically, to meet human needs rather than generate profits for a few.
What We Do
DSA is a political and activist organization, not a party. Through campus and community-based chapters, our members use a range of tactics, from legislation to direct action, to fight for reforms that put power in the hands of working people.

Why Democratic Socialism?
Capitalism is a system designed by the wealthy minority to exploit the rest of us for their own profit. We need a system where all people have a real voice in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society.
We want a democracy that creates space for us all to flourish not just survive and answers the fundamental questions of our lives with the input of all. Democratic Socialism is not a distant utopia. It is a practical path toward a society that actually works for the majority of people.
We want the multiracial working class united in solidarity instead of divided by fear. Because when working people stand together across race, gender, and background, we become ungovernable by those who profit from our division.
We want to win “radical” reforms like single-payer Medicare for All, defunding the police/refunding communities, the Green New Deal, and more as a transition to a freer, more just life.
